Eton Manor RFC – 2 tube stops from the Olympic Park

There has been lots of hype about the anticipated travel chaos that London will experience during this summers games, we have already been warned that disruptions on public transport are inevitable, but we shouldn’t panic – instead we should plan ahead!

With this is mind we have put together an Olympic and Paralympic travel and camping guide to help you select the best Camping at the Games site for the venues you need to reach. Our journey planner works out how far each of the sites are in relation to the venues and in our guide we have also factored in other issues too such as; where you are travelling from; size; atmosphere; are you with friends, family, volunteers or travelling alone? As all these things need to be considered too when choosing the right a place to stay!

The government has also launched Getting Ahead of the Games, and by using an interactive map you can identity the travel hotspots during London 2012, so that you can either factor in the additional travel time to your journey, choose a different mode of transport or re-route! Lots of work has been done to ensure the transport system operates effectively at Games-time, however, even with this work, there are certain times and locations that will be exceptionally busy. In most cases though, there will be more trains and later Tube, DLR and Overground services, which will help to alleviate some of the additional traffic. And Getting Ahead of the Games also provides useful advice on all the public transport options available, including those you may not have even considered such as river services!

We hope that you find this information useful, we realise it can be a daunting prospect but with the right preparation getting to the games will be a lot easier!
